Doctor's Appointment: Preamble
Thursday, 26 February 2026 07:49 amFinally have my doctor's appointment today to confirm ME/CFS
Because of Metro Surge & the sharp decline (or flare?) I've had in the last few months, it will be a phone call from bed.
My hospital where I receive most of my medical care is at risk of closing because it is in debt for caring for people without insurance.
Between that, increasing disease + violence risk, and threats to my health insurance, this is likely to be one of my last medical appointments for some time.
I will join the thousands of people with serious medical diagnoses who cannot afford or access care. My family and I will have to do the best we can with the resources we have from home, and hope to avoid any crises.
One of the reasons I am such a huge mask advocate is because it can PREVENT disease, which means it helps keep people healthy who DO NOT have access to regular (or any!) medical care.
As our public health systems continue to fall apart, this becomes more and more important.
Please wear a mask in public so people without access to ANY health care can avoid getting sick!
Please mask when you have ANY symptoms so people with less privilege than you don't have to miss work or damage their bodies and spread illness working while sick!

Date: 3 March 2026 03:40 am (UTC)Next steps:
1) following up with an outside medical org for a sleep study (my main hospital recently closed their sleep study dept). I gotta check some basic viral safety and PTSD matters before I decide whether to go ahead with scheduling the appointment.
2) seeing how much low-dose naltrexone is at my local compounding pharmacy to see if
a) my insurance covers it and
b) when it almost certainly doesn't, if my family can afford it otherwise
All the recommended testing for GERD related issues involves taking off my respirator, so that's out for now.
